Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: What is the Alltech-Muhammad Ali Center Global Education and Charitable Fund?
A: Alltech and the Muhammad Ali Center recently partnered to implement programs to inspire
adults and children to be as great as they can be. By focusing on education and providing
humanitarian aid to those in need, we can help address many of the world’s challenges.
Q: How can you help the fund?
A: Supporting the fund is free and it is easy – and recycling cell phones helps everyone. Simply
place your cell phone in the attached postage paid envelope and drop it into your nearest
mailbox, it is that easy.
Q: How do I participate?
A: Recycle your cell phone and give the gift of communication. Cell phones can be mailed using
the postage paid envelope given to you today or the envelope in USA Today Sports Weekly
Special Edition featuring Muhammad Ali. If you don’t have an envelope, or more than one
phone, you can mail it to:
3031 Catnip Hill Pike
Nicholasville, KY 40356
Q: What do you do with the phones?
A: Upon receipt, phones are sorted by brand, model, and quality. Traditionally 90% of the phones
are suitable for reuse. Memory on the phones is wiped clean, the phones are reset to factory
settings, given a new face and new accessories, and they’re ready to go.
Q: Then where do they go?
A: The phones are sent to third world countries where new phones are seen as a luxury item. This
allows the countries and the people using the phones to fast track technology so they don’t have
to install expensive land lines.
Q: And the phones that aren’t suitable for reuse?
A: They are shipped to authorized waste sites where they’re broken down into their individual
components and recycled!
Q: Are there any security issues?
A: No. We insure the wiping of the memory so all your old numbers no longer exist. We only
work with authorized dealers, which we regularly audit to make sure the phones get to people
who need them.
Q: Is this a new concept?
A: Sort of. Programs such as these have been in existence for more than five years so we know
how it works. We’re continually updating our methods to make sure we raise as much money
for the fund, while at the same time, provide a quality product to those in need.
